Luxembourg City to show Euro 2024 games on big screen

Football fans in Luxembourg City won’t miss the knockout stages of Euro 2024! The city council announced on Thursday that a big screen will be set up at the Glacis car park, starting from the round of 16 on June 29th.

While group stage matches (beginning June 14th) won’t be shown publicly, all matches from the knockout stage onwards will be broadcast live until the final on July 14th. The screen will be located in the upper part of the car park, near the Theater tram stop. This area will be closed to vehicles during screenings, but the Sunday Glacismaart market won’t be affected.

This follows a similar initiative for the 2018 World Cup. Euro 2020 wasn’t shown due to Covid restrictions, and the city opted out of showing the winter World Cup in Qatar last year.

Despite Luxembourg missing out on qualification after a playoff defeat to Georgia in March, excitement remains high for the tournament in neighboring Germany.

Less than two weeks after the Euro 2024 final, another major sporting event will also be broadcast live on a big screen in the city: the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games. That event will take place on 26 July at Place de la Constitution, close to Pont Adolphe bridge.
